Advantages of Self Help Blogs...

I recently read an article entitled “Self Help Advice – Warning!”, by Gary van Warmerdam, which says that people who can make changes in their life simply from reading a self help suggestion probably don’t need the suggestion to begin with.

Well written article. Liked your "image of perfection." I call it my illusion of perfection. It can be just as destructive as my illusion of control. I have learned to recognise them for what they are---tools of the ego that help to keep me in pain and confusion, as long as I allow it.

Motivation and desire are precede action. Unfortunately pain and emotional suffering are often the catalyst for the motivation. Doesn't have to be that way, but that's usually what it takes for people to stop relying on their compensating and coping strategies.

Great advice Gary - It is definitely possible to read an entire bookstore section full of self help books and not change one iota. The question is... what really can cause someone to make dramatic changes in their life? I think it often requires a drastic life change and a finding yourself in a situation where you are forced to adopt a new perspective - at least that's when I've noticed the biggest changes. I'm looking forward to listening to your audios :)
